Germination of Cannabis and growing of the weed sprout

Experiment: Cannabis Germination and Growing under a 20 Watt halogen desk lamp

Environment	Click to enlarge picture	This experiment was done in my office, the temperature was approximate 22 degrees Celsius ( 72° Fahrenheit). The light used is a simple 12V / 20W 10° Philips halogen desk lamp. The lamp was switched on 24 hours per day.
The seeds	Click to enlarge picture	The seeds were bought at The WeedSeedShop, strain: Early Special. Sowed 5 days before this movie was shot.
Medium	Click to enlarge picture	The medium used was normal potting soil, daily watered as the soil was dry. Before the actual germinating of the box was covered by plastic foil.
Day 1	Click to see the movie	The Big day is here, the seed is coming to life! The nice part of this movie is when the seedling gets rid of the seed coat. (The embryonic or seed leafs are called cotyledons.) In 24 hours the plant grew out of the reach of the cam!
Day 2	Click to see the movie	The development of the first pair of real leafs. The seedling makes a twist of 90 degrees
Day 3	Click to see the movie	The sprout twists 180 degrees this time counter clockwise and doubles its length.
Stretching	Click to enlarge image	On this picture you can clearly see the importance of the intensity of light. The further away from the light source, the more the seedlings are stretching.
Day 5	Click to see the movie	Is it not unbelievable how these plans are moving? Look at them sprouts dancing.... Note there was not the slightest air movement in the room. In this movie the second pair of leafs is starting to develop.
Larger pot	Click to enlarge image	Time to move to a larger pot! The other 3 seedlings were put outside in a small greenhouse.
Day 6	Click to see the movie	The part below the cotyledons is not moving anymore, and also no twist is made this time.
Day 7	Click to see the movie	The young cannabis plant has doubled its length again
Day 8	Click to see the movie	The third pair of leafs is starting now.
Day 9	Click to see the movie	It looks like there is a storm going on in my office, but the plant is doing this all by itself!
Day 10	Click to see the movie	The 4th and 5th pair of leafs are sprouting! The plant does not fit under my small halogen lamp anymore.... Gonna buy myself a real growing light and than I will do this expiriment again....
The result	Click to enlarge picture	Isn't that a beautiful result, just from 10 days x 24 hours of halogen light?
Conclusion	Click to enlarge picture	A 20W halogen desk light is just fine to start (vegetative phase) a nice cannabis plant. I have heard from many people that flowering is (almost) impossible with halogen, and also the beam of my halogen was not covering the whole plant so I was forced to stop this experiment. Take a look a this picture. he 3 small plants did only get natural sunlight after the 5th day. I will do this experiment again soon with a real growing light so I can also capture the flowering so come back soon!
